Presence, Play, Possibility

Join us as we explore online with Donna Martin the three phases of a session in the Hakomi Method.

Presence includes the capacity to be self-aware, to self-regulate, to co-regulate, to maintain attention on present embodied experience, to name (contact) present experience, and to cultivate and remain aware of the level of safety in the relationship. The question in phase one is: what is happening?

Play is a unique characteristic of this way of working. Hakomi is based on assisting someone to self-study, discover, and explore key habits and patterns that are organizing their experience in ways that are limiting or causing unnecessary suffering. The practitioner's capacity to recognize these embodied habits and patterns, to invite curiosity, to bring them into conscious awareness, and to create experimental ways to explore them in embodied mindfulness, is characteristic of phase two of this approach. A quality of playful exploration maintains a high level of safety and trust. The question in phase two is: what if we explore this?

Possibility is the focus of phase three. Once a key somatic pattern that keeps someone in an old reality has been brought into consciousness in phase two, there is a spontaneous opening to a new possibility for how to experience and relate to life. The new possibility includes an embodied state of resourcefulness that offers more freedom of choice and comes with increased self-awareness and consciousness. The question in phase three is: what else is possible?

The three modules are experiential and based on practices from Donna Martin's Psoma version of the Hakomi method. New, beginning, and advanced students of Hakomi are welcome in this unique multi-level training opportunity.
