As Hakomi practitioners or therapists of any kind, we have times when we feel ineffective with our clients at some point in the therapy process. The therapy seems stuck or confusing in a way we can't seem to shift. Ron Kurtz, the creator of Hakomi, recognized this and wrote that in Hakomi, or in any method of psychotherapy, various systems emerge that keep the unfolding process from evolving. He is referring to relational systems that we can become looped into, without realizing that we're looped in, not just in the context of therapy but in all kinds of relationships. It is our own unconscious habits that can interact with habits of certain clients to create a system that feels confusing or difficult. When we become conscious of this it's possible to make a shift that allows for a new creative possibility to emerge. But how do we do this?
Through demonstrations, discussion, and experiential practice, we'll look at what Hakomi calls "jumping out of the system" -- ways of recognizing and shifting relational patterns that keep us stuck so that we can get back to facilitating the unfolding of experience in ways that feel natural, easy, and healing.
Join Donna Martin, senior trainer and Hakomi Education Network legacy holder, for three days of in-person teaching, demos and experiential practice exploring unconscious relational systems, how they can bind us in therapy or in personal relationships, and how we can free ourselves and our clients towards a more mutually organic relationship. This training is open to those new to Hakomi and to seasoned practitioners as well. On the third day, Sunday, Donna will provide coaching to senior students in brief sessions with other students. Those new to Hakomi are welcome and encouraged to attend on Sunday as observer participants.
